Frilli Gallery’s fame is based on its exquisite replicas of masterpieces from all over the world.  The Frilli Gallery and their master craftsmen are quick to explain the difference between a copy and a replica. A copy is derived from a photo of an original piece, the artist simply copies what he sees using his own hands.  A replica is created using a model taken directly from the original piece, by means of a physical mould or 3D digital scanning. In this way, a replica maintains the exact intention of the original artist, adhering perfectly the the soul of the piece as it first existed.  The Frilli fine art sculptures have become world famous for outstanding museum quality replicas of masterpieces from all four corners of the earth. The gallery also owns the largest collection of moulds taken directly from original pieces of sculpture from international monuments and museums.  The Frilli Gallery continue their family’s art casting foundry traditions, with recent works including the prestigious project to cast a replica of the priceless Gates of Paradise, created by Lorenzo Ghiberti in for the Baptistery in Florence in the mid 1400’s. The bronze doors were considered too precious for continued outdoor exposure; they are now housed in the Opera del Duomo museum and the Frilli replica hangs in their place on the East Door of the Baptistery.
